Yemeni Hadhrami Jambiya

AN46 Jambiya Yemen

Code AN46

An older jambiya from the Hadhramaut region of Yemen. The hilt is horn, worn to a very dark color by many years of handling. Two rivets secure the hilt to the blade. The rivets are decorated with silver pins through a brass ring. The forte of the blade is decorated with a geometrical cross hatch pattern and two rows of dots. The decorations appear on both sides of the blade but are more pronounced on the front side. The blade is of one piece of steel and features the typical strong medial rib extending from hilt to tip. When struck hard with a fingernail, the blade sounds a solid “thunk” indicating it is of better quality.
