This is provisionally identified as a Indo-Persian khanjar with a bifurcated blade in the style known as Zulfiqar (zulfiqar) in honor of the blade of Ali, a revered figure in Sunni Islam. The blade is serrated on both sides. The steel is pattern-welded with the laminations clearly visible along the edges. The blade is watered steel that gives the appearance of wootz. The hilt is decorated in Islamic syle with embossed arabic writing that is not yet translated. Typically this writing might be poem or a saying from the Koran.
