“Kurdistan” here does not refer to a modern geopolitical region. Rather, it refers to a region occupied primarily by the people who are members of the Kurd ethnic group. At a cross-roads between numerous countries and cultures in the region, and having been dominated by the Ottoman Empire and others, the Kurds developed some unique weapon styles that reflect these various influences.
