A small Dha Hmyaung "Prayer Knife" from Burma c. 1900 with beautiful ivory hilt, silver bolster and matching scabbard. The scabbard, of wood, is completely covered in silver foil with onlay decoration and silvery filigree in a floral pattern.
This particular style, "Prayer Knife", gets its name from the practice of holding it while saying prayers. Surprise! The shape of the blade is typical of the Chin smiths of Burma. While small, this knife is sturdy and useful.
