This is a Moroccan janbiya of classic design c. 1940. Including the scabbard, it measures approximately 14 inches in length. The hilt and scabbard are in fine condition and are completely covered in brass, with some silver, and engraved with geometric patterns. Red coral or some other stone is another decoration. The blade, while sharp and stiff, is otherwise nothing special. Probably village made. This dress jambiya is meant for wearing as an accessory, not as a functional knife.
