Code AN31
A large dharia type janbiya dagger from Western Arabia/Yemen measuring approx 24" (610mm) overall in scabbard. The dharia is also referred to as a sabiki. It represents an intermediate form between a full-sized sword and the small jambiya. The sibiki dharia is quite long and heavy to wear regularly. The jambiya was adopted as part of a man's daily dress although men wearing a dharia are still found in the Mainbah region of the Governorate of Sa’ada.
The white metal hilt and scabbard are decorated on the face with intricate wirework, and 6 stones, probably carnelians. The scabbard is covered on the rear with leather. The 13 1/2" (340mm) blade is of typical Arabian style with a pronounced central rib, and does not appear to be of two-part construction.
