Singha Wedong

Code: SA1

This is an antique wedong dagger from the area of Karangasem, Bali (Indonesia). The massive blade measures 8,6" (22cm) in length. The overall length of this knife is 13,8" (35cm). This is a very solid and heavy traditional knife.  The shape of the blade is very similar to the “Basi Sanresang”, a spear from Sulawesi.

The wooden handle is artistically carved in the form of the famous "Singha" Lion, similar to the balinese temple entrance guard sculptures. The presentation side of the beautiful wooden sheath is carved in the shape of the "Goa" elephant head symbol at the base, following floral motifs down to the tip of the sheath.
