Shan Dha-hmyaung

Shan dha-hmyaung dagger, Burma, early 20th C.

Code:  SA2

This is a dha-hmyaung dagger from the Shan tribes of Burma (modern day Myanmar), age estimated 1920-1950. Typical for this style, the grip is wrapped in rattan and about 6 inches in length.  The blade is above average quality, very sharp and retains a fine point.  The 9 inch blade shows a clear folding pattern as well as a temper line where the edge has been hardened.  The scabbard is original, with leather and traditional cord/belt added at a later time.
