This is a very old Javanese Tumbak (Tombak, Gandjur, Toembak) of the Bener (straight point) type. The scabbard and hilt are relatively new. The blade is at least 130 years old, perhaps quite a bit older. The Tumbak measures 8 3/4 inches, with the hilt a total of 15 inches in length.
The main point of interest here is the old blade, the lethal end of a spear. It is thin and smooth, indicating its age is probably greater than 130 years as a minimum. The pamor is finely executed - a very distinct pattern of ovals within ovals (please write to me if you know the proper name for this pamor pattern).
See “About Pamor”.
