This is a Badik Bugis from Sulawesi (Celebes), Indonesia, circa 1930. The silver mountings are especially beautiful on this dagger. The total length in scabbard is 27 cm with a weight of 171 gram.
The blade is high quality laminated steel.
The hilt of patinated kemuning wood is set at a sharp angle from the blade, with a tapa guda style pommel.
The bolster and the entire scabbard are covered in a sheet layer of silver foil that is both embossed and engraved to form high-relief designs in floral motif.
